Veteran Chief Forecaster Bob Long has joined the FM92 staff as our Chief Forecaster. Bob has about a million years of weather experience – he likely invented weather, to be honest.
Bob’s passion for weather began in 1960 during a school trip to a Pittsburgh planetarium, where a souvenir weather book sparked his interest. Soon after, he became a severe weather spotter for the National Weather Service at Akron/Canton Airport in Ohio.
Over the years, Bob developed a local storm spotter network in Portage and Summit counties, provided daily forecasts as WKNT’s former news director, and educated community groups on severe weather safety.
As the Chief Forecaster for FM92, you’ll hear Bob hourly as he voices daily forecasts and weather alerts impacting the lowcountry.
